Of all the songs I've written, this is my flagship. My anthem. It's the earliest song in my homespun recordings, and is about the ways a life can be lived, and how the path I've chosen, while not easy, is the only way I could have ever lived it. It's also meant to bring to light that, often times, the harder things to do in life and the right things to do in life are the same thing, and how the willingness to break rules, if your instincts tell you to, has proven that it's not only okay, but often rewarded.

Lyrics

When you make a turn
Down the Lost Highway
It's never told
The price you'll pay

But if you can hang on
It soon becomes known
What you gotta do
If you're gonna get through
With the seeds you've sown

Through a smoke-filled mirror
I can see I'm still here
And this crooked smile
Might stay a while

'Cause it's a matter of taste
What you're willing to waste
And it's a tough row to hoe
When you don't know
What seeds you've sown

For I can go out and do anything I choose to
It ain't easy, but it's easy to get used to
And if living life means staring down the unknown,
I will prosper with these seeds I've sown

It makes little sense
To live in fear
For you can't control
What isn't here

There's no reason to worry
Just love what's yours
The seeds you sow
Eventually grow
And open the doors

If your ship starts rockin'
Through some rougher seas,
The stars can guide you
They have for centuries

It's a great paradox
But some of life's real jewels
Are discovered by those
Who are unopposed
To breaking the rules

For you can go out and do anything you choose to
It ain't easy, but it's easy to get used to
And if living life means staring down the unknown,
You will prosper with the seeds you've sown

You will prosper with the seeds you've sown
